Definitely pump the cane up. At +10 it’s a monster esp with good gems. If you’re maining the Cane, i definitely recommend Skill to 50. The reiterpallasch is one of the better skill scaling weapons in the base game and the burial blade is really good but you can only get it in new game plus. I'd say church pick is one of the best PvE weapons.Or do 50 arc instead (str/skill can be at base values or whatever else you need to use other weapons if you want to), use an elemental gem and two +65% arc scaling gems.
