The Kimber Ultra+ CDP (Custom Defensive Pistol) II from the Kimber Custom Shop is for those who find they are better suited having a 1911 with a short slide assembly while retaining the full-sized grip. The Ultra+ CDP II provides this, along with numerous practical and attractive features found on, well, a custom 1911.
The Covert pistols are made to be as comfortable as possible to carry and receive the Kimber Carry Melt treatment; a process that rounds the sharper edges to allow a smooth, snag-free draw. It's an Ultra with a captured double spring set-up. I wouldn't switch the springs cause it's a PITA. If it does it with the Kimber mags (don't slam them into the gun when they are empty) then the next thing I would do is find a shooter who shoots short 1911's and let them shoot the gun.
