I prefer contraverse hold because the result per combat loop is easier to execute and higher yield. All I need to do is toss a nade at either groups or a high health target to weaken them for my weapons/teammates. Contraverse Hold with Void, Starfire Protocol with Solar, Osmiomancy Gloves on Stasis with Bleak Watcher aspect and Crown of Tempests on Arc are the best ones that come to mind/that I know of. There are lots of other good options for exotics on everything but Solar.
