Bowfa without crystal armour.
Crystal armor itself is not a big upgrade over black dhide without the bowfa, outside of the ranged defense. I would bank it for now so you aren't burning charges and pull it back out when you are able to afford the bowfa. It's a marginal range accuracy bonus over blessed d'hide. Use it where you'd use that.
For a main it is better to not corrupt the bowfa. It takes 130 hours of constantly firing a bowfa to use up all the charges 2k crystal shards would have given. If you ever plan on selling the bowfa later, then corrupting is a waste of gp. You will have enough gp for a TBow before the 130 hours are up. Because just like corrupting bowfa, it'd be an absolute noob trap to corrupt the armour (on a main). Out of all the rechargeable items in the game, crystal armour is the least of your worries. we got the recolours which is what really matters. Add crystal crown to crystal helmet as cosmetic upgrade. You can bring a mage switch, but with Tbow only (and by extension Bowfa only) setups you're opting for better profit per kill or per inventory, rather than more kills per hour. Generally speaking, The higher the scaling/cm, the way better the tbow does and the worse the blowpipe does while Fbow performs decently when scaling/cms (but doesn't scale monstrously like tbow does). Slightly lower DPS by like 0.2 (with a fury, with an anguish blowpipe outshines bowfa without crystal armour by 0.6 dps) but still good. Hard to account for missed shots from BP while moving from spawns, which should lower the dps slightly. Both are comparable dps, with the bowfa being free and longer range.
Crystal with bowfa blows it away and is a game changer. Don't commit to bowfa WITHOUT crystal armor, you'll lose SO much dps it's insane. Truly though bowfa/crystal is a beast combo.
It takes a very considerable amount of use to "get your moneys worth" out of corrupted bowfa. If you were to theoretically attack something without being interrupted for an hour, you would use 1500 charges, or 15 crystal shards. 2000 crystal shards is well over 100 hours of theoretical use, that's what bowfa costs to corrupt
