And when you consider using one of the readily available stroker cranks for the 351 (or even the 302) Fords, there's no reason to use the harder-to-package 400M engine.

For many years guys were using factory 400 cranks in their 408" stroker 351W builds as that was the only option throughout the 1980's and most of the 1990's.
