I have 2 cats, and only have this problem with 1 of them. I have a Litter-Robot 3 which has a rubber liner along the inside where the litter sits. When she finishes her business, she scratches at the rubber liner. It gets to the point where it forms holes that the litter seeps through when it cycles. I have plenty of scratching posts nearby.
