I just bought a Johnson 100 Century for $28.51, shipping included with box and owners manual for a 100A on EBay. Reel was clean, but I found out the drag does not work and spool is frozen.
On the Johnson 100 or 110 models, the drag relies on a dial located on top of the reel housing. It was originally numbered from 1 to 6. The dial was made out of metal. Turning the metal dial indicator moved a linkage under the dial which operated a brass lever located just inside the nylon spool core. This caused a slight movement that tightedned the line spool …Had no idea it would fit a Century case! I had a Centennial in the 90's with that color front cover. The Century 100's (1955-79) used an anodized aluminum front cover that was susceptible to getting pretty badly scuffed up if not handled and transported gently. The condition is called "boat rash".Zebco and Johnson joined Pure Fishing about the same time. Look at the foot of a Johnson Century 100B 40th anniversary model, you'll find Made in USA. Look at the 45th and you'll find made in china. In later models I'd find shim washers behind the crank gear. My first reel was a Zebco 202 when I was 10.Reel spins and casts freely. May need to be lubricated and cleaned as it has not been done for many years. Saw something interesting on eBay today ..... a Johnson Century 100b. Someone is selling a used reel with the original box and the retail price is marked on box $14.95. I got my 1st Century 100b in 1970 but I have no recollection of what I paid for it. I do remember getting my 1st Zebco 202 and the price was under $5!
One last comment on the drag adjustment on the Johnson Century. To adjust the drag, turn the drag adjustment knob to the highest number, then lift the black plate under it with the numbers on it, and then turn the drag adjustment knob back to the lowest setting...this should do it. If the drag is still to loose, do the same thing one more time ...

Tim has given some very good advise concerning the Johnson 'Century 100B.' Generally, when I take any reel apart I will lay out a cloth to place my parts on. Then when removing the parts lay them out in the order that you removed them, so when you are ready to reassemble the reel you can reverse the order of the disassemble.Century 115 is the immediate sucessor to 100B, Century 135 is equivalent to Citation 110B. These later reels are very similar in terms of drag and drive train, much different in appearance.
