If you look at the module with the terminals pointing down, the two on the left go to the pickup coil (black and blue on my '86).Remove the gas tank cover. As for the test itself, fill the pot with water and gradually rise the temperature of it, while at the same time the switch is in the water itself (only the temperature sensing part of it, of course) and hand tester is connected on switch leads.The 400 is a great machine, the best in the 400 class, imo. 2002 698 Prairie.
