I press the starter button and it does not turn over at all. If I keep pressing the button several times it may start eventually. Once it turns over it starts easy enough.

Pull the connector off the regulator. Measure the resistance across the 3 white wires going to the stator. Value should be 0.11 - 0.17 ohm (1-ohm scale). Start the bike and measure the voltage on across the same white wires and it should be 54V or more (250v scale).

Found that the gray wire on the ignition switch only had 1 volt on it. Took the ignition switch apart and found resistor had broken and appeared to be making intermittent contact.

Try properly charging the battery. If the voltage dropped to 9-10 volts it probably won't recover. You can take the battery to almost any auto store and get it load tested too.
