Kawasaki vulcan 800 problems.
The bike is a 2001 VN800 Classic and the previous owner said the bike was idling and then while he was strapping his helmet on the bike died. He took it to the place where he bought it and they pulled the plugs, said they put a camera inside and they claim the motor sucked a valve. The bike has 22,000 mi. and looks very well taken care of.

If the engine has problems between 1/4 and 3/4 throttle, the jet needle and needle jet (most likely the jet needle) is likely the problem. If the engine is running poorly at 3/4 to full throttle, the main jet is the likely problem. Fingers are crossed - but at least after this I know I will have all of the carby puzzle pieces.

But stuff like the way the rear brakes connect, or the way the regulator (the thing under the radiator) is bolted to the frame. A few things here, a few things there.

The problem I am having is that on cold start it stalls as soon as soon as you put it in 1st gear and the bike starts moving. It usually takes several attempts at revving really high on the throttle to finally get it going so that it doesn't stall.Leave about a 1/3 of the chrome cover uncut. Some of us have discovered that the stock air box lets in too much air when the cover is cut all the way around. At high speeds it will cause a lean mixture and begin to surge. Don't replace your lash adjusters, fix them. I have 05 Vulcan 2000. At 60,000 miles my adjusters started getting noisy. Oil change helped for awhile. Auto parts oil additives helped for awhile. On an 800 mile tour they started making racket almost immediately, I was pissed so just kept driving.
