Lim gasket 3800.

Dec 6, 2009 · I pulled my UIM and LIM last week and found that the LIM gasket was in really bad shape. I also found that there was a small divet where the metal of the LIM had worn away:icon_conf. I'm not sure how this might affect engine performance. I have a video recorded of someone changing it step by step, but they don't include all the gaskets and stuff you'll need. LIM Gasket 2x Coolant Elbows Supercharger Gasket (?) I know you need the tube of stuff for the LIM gasket too, whatever it's called. Anything else? Should I get Felpro gaskets, or should I grab the LIM gasket on ZZP?want to replace 3800 series II with series III. Posts ...That has nothing to do with coolant. In fact, coolant almost CAN'T leak into your upper intake because the gasket doesn't seal any coolant at all. The only places coolant flows in your pic is the large (orange o-ring - coolant outlet) and the small (yellow o-ring - TB coolant port) The RWD 3800's have no UIM leak issue like the FWD motors.

The early 3800 motors did have issues with the lower intake manifolds,but odds are if the car's lasted this long the repair was likely performed already.Even if it isn't,changing the LIM gasket isn't a Mortal Kombat death job; time consuming but doable within a weekend .

The 3800 simply does not kill head gaskets. If you are losing coolant, get the UIM and LIM gasket issues addressed, and flush coolant. If you are not losing coolant, you can probably still stand a coolant flush, but if it's not overheating, or exhibiting any other symptoms of a head gasket failure, don't worry about it.

The UIM is leaking coolant and I know the LIM gasket was leaking oil due to a clogged cat. So I figure it is time to replace both. What other goodies do you guys recomment besides the gasket ...

That would explain coolant in your oil. I wouldnt drive this thing until its fixed. so order a new upper intake manifold gasket, new valve cover gaskets, new fuel injector o-rings. Drain coolant/flush system and refill with new. When you finish installing all the gaskets and have everything together, drain the oil, and refill with new.
