But in 80 they also redesigned the ouput shaft to a slip yoke instead of a slip shaft driveshaft I don't know if the redesign required the fluid change. Have a Turbo 350 AT with a GM NP205 and home made clocking plate. On an incline the ATF will leak out of the vent line on the transfer case.
