I grew up showing horses around the country and have gained a little over 500 hours shadowing equine vets in the past 8 months. I also have about 150 hours volunteering in animal rescues and fostering sick dogs. I've got a couple suggestions. My mom gave me a book a couple years ago called The Horse Doctor Is In by Brent Kelley, DVM. He presents horse health care using stories from his time as an equine vet in Kentucky. If what you're interested in is being a well rounded applicant, I think it would be more useful to take classes you want to take rather than worrying about filling your minor checklist.I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find an internship (especially for pre-vets/undergrads) that is paid. I've perused many an animal internship and can't think of one off the top of my head that is paid.
