It'll help it shoot a bit flatter but that's about it, blowback/ejection will not change much. The BRT 50/50 Carbine gas tube is an excellent upgrade for that upper and runs $50.

The BCM BCG is probably a step above in qc, but i have had the same number of issues with both, and they were minor problems.According to BCM as of 2017 the gas port diameter is .075". Others have self-measured their barrels and reported anywhere from .073-.076. .073 was what my buddy measured so .073-.075 as stated above is about right IME. If you wanted to go to .070 or so with a brt insert function should still be fine with most ammo types.Longer answer: You need to understand what barrel life is. It is measure in two parts; 1.) Accuracy and 2.) Velocity. Each barrel starts with a slightly different point for each stat. For example a 5r Bartlein will start life around .5moa, and with higher average velocities.

I haven't had the same barrel in both profiles, but the same length. My 14.5 elw and 14.5 standard bfh were equally accurate with the same handloads. Easily 1 moa or better. I actually saw worse dispersion in the standard during rapid fire than the elw. The bfh pulled up to the right as it got hot.
