Westbound trains normally use Lines 2 and 4, and eastbound trains normally use Lines 1 and 3. The LIRR has exclusive use of tracks 17-21, and shared use of tracks 13-16. When necessary, the LIRR can access tracks as low as 5, but that's uncommon. Line 4 is the normal westbound tunnel for LIRR trains, because it can access tracks 14-21.
