90 is the maximum Valve will allow, and is the FOV which gives you the widest frame of vision. Having a wider frame of vision means you won't be getting nearly large of a blind spot. 90 is pretty much the most used FOV by pro players. Personally, I like the high FOV best, but some prefer low FOVs. I use 90 FOV but prefer 120-130 in FPSs.
