The first two melee pits were a total and utter joke. Thorn marsh was easy IF you read the pit master notes, which explicitly says to use combos to chain off one another. Took me 5-6 tries to get the energy surge one. But the thorn marsh boss was the hardest - even harder than the Enduring.

There's no block or parry so Aloy has no real "defense" aside from dodge/roll. Her melee damage is mostly about stringing together combos, resonator blasts etc., instead of having upgradeable melee options (swords, hammers, axes etc). Aloy is a hunter, not a warrior.

The melee pit challenges are absolute garbage and the combos are explained terribly, there are several challenges where the combo descriptions are simply incorrect and trying to follow them exactly will fail you EVERY time.
