I would say, if they don't break from 1 max 2 explosive arrows / demon fire orbs, then they are bugged and you should not waste more time and resources trying. I personally use explosive arrows and aim at the base. Explosive arrows use dragon powder which is expensive. Orbs are cheaper. Also orbs don't roll away if you actually know how to use them correctly. If you use left click to throw them, they bounce and roll. If you use right click to throw them.
