How to clean a ruger 380 lcp.
The hammer was proabley up in the fired position when you tried to install the slide. The hammer must be down when you install the slide. About to problem with the barrel rubbing aganist the slide. Check under the slide and look at the top front of the ejection port and make sure there are no little bumps there.
The PF-9 is a decent little gun with lots more power than a 380. It is a DA only pistol (not a striker) but still does not have a manual safety catch. I think Ruger's SR9 is about the only polymer frame (striker or DA) pistol that comes with a manual safety and it sure isn't a pocket pistol. I'd recommend the Max because itis barely thicker than the original and still incredibly easy to conceal especially in the pocket while being easier to grip/shoot and much higher capacity.Head out to the garage and put the door up, or clean your guns on a bright and dry day to get them cleaned properly. 5. Clean out the barrel with cleaning rod and patches. Soak the bore, or inside of the barrel, using a cleaning rod, patch holder and the right size cotton patches for your gun.1) I like a toothbrush inside to clean off residue particles on the lower, slide, and magazine as per Hickock45. 2) followed by Birchwood Casey Lead Remover & Polishing cloth inside lower and on bottom slide. 3) Bore snake to clear away residue from barrel. 4) followed by Hoppes No. 9 patches until patches are clear.If the gun hasn't been shot in a while, I will clean it anyway every couple of months. As other have mentioned, the caliber and type of ammo make a difference also. .22LR guns get cleaned every trip. Remember, you will not hurt a gun by cleaning it too much.
