Do I need high perception for speech checks or can I just leave that low and focus on Might, Intelligence and Resolve while still passing most speech checks?

Resolve is good for frontliner and to avoid debuffs. But if your paladin isn't the main character absorbing damage, than you can live with a bit lowered res too. Paladins have the option to get plenty of armor, so deflection could be seen as less mandatory depending on what way you wana go with it. 3.

Another option that's kind of less damage focused but still relies on actually fighting is to build around Marking effects. The Paladin talent Co-Ordinated Attacks gives any ally attacking the same target as your paladin +10 accuracy. Add a Marking weapon on top of that for another +10.
