I just fixed this problem on my 2003 s10. Its called the gas tank vent soleniod. Its a little sq box type thing up behind the charcoal cannister, which is behind the tank. Its really easy to change. It has a sensor connection 2 wires which plug into it, and one hose which goes to the charcoal cannister. It costs about $45.00CND.A helpful tip would be to run the tank as empty as possible, so the tank is as light as possible and itll limit the amount of gas spillage and stank.
